What are Quick Connects?
Quick connect fittings, also called quick disconnects and quick couplers, are a type of hydraulic fitting used to make a fast connection of fluid transfer lines. Quick connects are operated by hand and are a replacement for threaded and flanged fittings, which require tools to install and remove. Quick connect hydraulic fittings are used in a wide variety of systems, including plumbing, heating, electrical, and fire suppression. They offer a significant time saving benefit over traditional hydraulic fittings and require little skill to operate.
How do they work?
Quick connects work by inserting the tubing into a connection that deploys fastening teeth onto the tubing surface. When an opposing force is applied to the hydraulic fitting, the teeth are forced deeper into the tubing, preventing separation.
